Lauren Machado is a member of the Board of Directors, and one of the three co-founders of Valley Scholars College Initiative. Machado served as the Secretary of the Board from 2019 to 2021.

Machado is currently a junior at Boston University in Massachusetts majoring in English. She is a locally published poet and a frequent patron of libraries anywhere. While studying at BU, she serves as a peer mentor for incoming freshmen, helping them to adjust to college life in a big city.

Machado also serves as the Vice President of Programs.
